If you’re not a bath person it’s ok, I’m not either.  On occasion though, I really enjoy taking a bath at night before bed just to relax.  Taking a bath with Epsom salt helps in so many ways, either to relax, detox, or soothe sore muscles.

There are many different salts that you can use for a bath but to keep things simple I mostly use Epsom salt.  You can also use different essential oils with it, depending on what you would like to accomplish.

Tip: I have seen a lot of recipes out there for Epsom salt baths using dried flowers such as Lavender.  It looks cute but I don’t recommend it because honestly, it will make such a mess in your bathtub once you drain it.  The frustration of cleaning it afterwards will counteract any relaxation gained from taking that bath.  I’m speaking from experience!

You can just use Lavender essential oil, but I also really love Roman Chamomile.  It’s use for relaxation is not as widespread as Lavender, but I personally find it more relaxing than Lavender.  It is also a great alternative for those who don’t like the scent of Lavender.

Use 15 drops of essential oils per one cup of Epsom salt.  Be sure to combine the essential oils first before adding them to the salt.  I recommend using 2-3 cups of Epsom Salt depending on the size of your bath.

The number of drops below is sufficient for one cup of Epsom salt, adjust accordingly for each additional cup.

2 drops of Roman Chamomile

6 drops Lavender

7 drops Wild Orange
